YAC TREEHOUSE MODULE - 2020
France
YAC Young Architects Competitions

There's an enchanting allure to a treehouse that transcends time, evoking the whimsical essence of childhood dreams. Perched amidst the branches, it's a sanctuary where imagination takes flight, and reality melds with fantasy. In this elevated haven, one can't help but feel like a character in a storybook, where every moment is imbued with a sense of wonder and possibility.
Design inspiration from Richard Serra's monumental artwork centered around "Gigantisme," the treehouse design transcends conventional boundaries, echoing Serra's exploration of scale and space. Just as Serra's sculptures evoke a sense of exploration through their massive forms, the treehouse stands as a portal to a dreamlike space that is born from the branches and irregularity of the trees. Through this symbiotic fusion, the treehouse becomes not only a shelter but also a sculptural marvel, inviting inhabitants to immerse themselves in an environment where nature and architecture converge.
Utilizing advanced tools like Forest Pack software, 3ds Max, and parametric modeling with Grasshopper and Rhino, the design for the architecture competition YAC "Treehouse Module 2020" envisioned a treehouse that harmonized with its forest environment in both form and function. The interplay of climbable rope nets, which double as a serene spot for reclining while enjoying a movie projected onto one of the outer walls of the treehouse, creates an outdoor cinema experience coveted by every camper.
